Week of September 29th :: Storybook Pumpkins Info

We will be getting ready for Fall by decorating the IMC and planting a storybook pumpkin patch. Students will find out in class this week about Storybook Pumpkins and how to participate.

Here is the iMovie Mrs. Csorba made last year. We had over 100 pumpkins that were "planted" in the IMC. It was super fun! Did you participate last year? We hope you all have fun and enjoy the pumpkins!

Week of September 22nd

We will spend the week of September 22nd in our computer lab again. 3rd graders will learn their user names and passwords to log onto our computers. We will have a discussion about why we have user names and passwords and the importance of keeping that information private.
4th and 5th graders will log on to the computers and into their Google accounts. I will be teaching them how to make word clouds at tagul.com and linking this to their Google accounts.
Recap from last week:
1. We have a new display that we will change monthly. We are starting a "author spotlight" display. Our Panther readers can read a short bio about our selected author and check out books by that author. Our first author is Andrew Clements.

We stared a new center last week called book recommendations. Students can sit down and write some information about a favorite book that they would recommend to someone and share why they liked it. Here are a few great recommendations!

Week of September 15th

This week our Panthers will be in the computer lab. We will learn our assigned seats, our PBIS expectations for "being fab in the computer lab" and procedures. We also received our first shipment of books. Many new and exciting titles for our library! Excited to get these on the shelves for our readers!

Week of September 8th

This week, the students listened to the following emergency procedures: lockdown, bad weather, and fire. Our procedures for these emergencies look a little different when comparing to the classroom procedures. We reviewed where to go for these three emergencies when we are in the IMC, Main Floor Computer Lab and 2nd Floor Computer Lab. Classes did a great job listening and asking questions for clarification. We finished our class with a quick word search on IMC words while Mrs. Csorba took pictures of the classes for the iPad seating chart.

Welcome Back!

Welcome to the 2014-2015 school year! We are so excited for the new school year! We have enjoyed having our students visit the IMC last week for a fun activity (monster corner bookmarks). We also had the students check out 1 book last week.

This week in IMC classes, students will hear IMC/Computer lab expectations on how to be respectful, responsible, and safe. Students will also hear book checkout expectations at their book checkouts this week. They will be able to check out 3 books.

Take a look at our Flipagram from our fun week in the IMC last week. We are "happy" to be back!
