The Bluestem Award: Illinois' Grades 3-5 Readers' Choice Award is sponsored by Illinois State Media Association (islma.org). This is the 4th year for this award.

Prairieview is registered to participate in the award program. Students must read at least 4 of the 20 books to vote. Only students are allowed to vote! Voting takes place between mid February to mid March. We will vote in the IMC.

Here are the 2013 Nominees. You can visit http://www.islma.org/Bluestem.htm for more information. Last week, students were introduced to the 20 nominees. Once I've shared the nominees to all the classes, students are able to check out the books at their book checkout.

Weekly Recap

We had a great 2 weeks in the computer lab. All classes received their assigned seats and learned the expectations of how to be respectful, responsible and safe in the lab. This past week third graders learned their user name and passwords to log onto our computers. 4th and 5th grade reviewed basic Microsoft Word functions. They all learned to change the orientation of their document from portrait to landscape. We discussed when it would be appropriate to use landscape. It was another great week!

Weekly Recap

We finished up IMC orientation this week. All classes learned their assigned seats. We reviewed how to be respectful, responsible, and safe during IMC and book check out. We went over book care rules. A note home about all of this went home with your child. Next week we will be in the computer lab for orientation. Students will get their assigned seats as well. Centers were up and running during book check out. I was so impressed with the students this week. All classes were respectful of the centers and followed directions! Way to go Praireview!
