Summer Reading at the Public Libraries

Don't forget to keep reading this summer to prevent "summer slide" when you return to school in the Fall. Indian Prairie Library's Program is called "Home Made Readers". Starts June 13-August 8. For more info go to summer.ippl.info for birth-grade 6. Woodridge and DG public library's theme is "Every Hero Has a Story" for their summer reading. It started June 1 and ends July 25.

The Csorba family is all signed up for our summer reading. Jack's goal is to have someone read to him every day for 20 minutes. Emma's goal is the Ducky Reading and we have different reading activities to do with her for the summer.

Have a great summer everyone!

What's Happening in the IMC?

This week we started reading our novels during library class. At the end of every school year, we spend the last month reading (all of class and about 10 minutes of checkout) a book that is being nominated for either a Bluestem Award or Rebecca Caudill for the next year. Third grade is reading, Matilda by Roald Dahl. Fourth grade is reading Three Times Lucky by Shelia Turnage. Fifth grade is reading Chomp by Carl Hiaasen.

Rain Reign

Rain Reign
Title: Rain Reign
Author: Ann M. Martin Call Number: FIC MAR
Reviewer: Mrs. Csorba

Summary:
Rating: excellent

Review: Rose is our protagonist. She has Aspergers syndrome. She is obsessed with homonyms and prime numbers. We hear this story from her point of view. Rose's dad gives her a dog on a rainy night and they form a special bond. Then one night, dad lets Rain outside during a hurricane and Rain goes missing. This is such a great story about love and loss...but not the kind of loss you might be thinking about. This is one of my top books for the year. It is a must read!
